EuropeanWorld

The European Commission and World Bank Group are collaborating to align their initiatives, Scaling Up Renewables in Africa and Mission 300, to provide electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030. This effort seeks to address the urgent need for electricity access, which is vital for economic growth and job creation.

President von der Leyen emphasized the mission to power Africa with clean energy, highlighting the importance of this partnership in boosting investments and providing sustainable energy solutions. Similarly, President Banga stressed that electricity is foundational for economic growth and the initiatives aim to deliver reliable power to transform communities.

The joint effort will focus on increasing investments in sustainable energy projects and will be highlighted at the G20 Leaders Summit in South Africa in 2025.
