Knowledge Meeting on Developments in Information Technology

The Committee on Digitalization is organizing a second meeting on February 18 regarding developments and challenges surrounding digitalization and artificial intelligence. This time, various High Councils of State, advisory bodies, and the Central Bureau of Statistics will speak. How do they assess these developments, particularly in light of public values and fundamental rights? How do they see their advisory role? What opportunities and challenges does digital transformation offer? They will also address what they want to convey to the Members of Parliament concerning their legislative and supervisory role.


Committee on Digitalization

The Committee on Digitalization aims to evaluate (legislative) proposals with a digitalization component for legality, feasibility, and enforceability. Additionally, it has a significant focus on safeguarding public values and fundamental rights in the deployment and development of new information technology in society and government.


Introduction Meeting

The meeting consists of two blocks. The first block focuses on the safeguarding of public values. The second block focuses on digital transformation.

Each block begins with a brief introduction by the invited speakers. Subsequently, Members of Parliament have the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.

Block 1 – Safeguarding Public Values (6:00 PM to 7:15 PM)

ICT Assessment Advisory Board - Adri de Bruijn (Chairman) and Ivo Kerkkamp (Deputy Secretary-General, also ICT Research Manager)

Council of State – Kathalijne Buitenweg (State Councilor)

National Ombudsman – Reinier van Zutphen (National Ombudsman)

Block 2 – Digital Transformation (7:25 PM to 8:30 PM)

Central Bureau of Statistics – Angelique Berg (Director-General) and Karen Graver (Director Strategy and Management)

Social and Economic Council – Nanda Piersma (Crown Member) and Nitesh Bharosa (Deputy Crown Member)

Scientific Council for Government Policy - Corien Prins (Chairman)
