New Purpose for the Mansion
A request for proposals was made to find a new purpose for the mansion. Submissions were evaluated based on concept, approach, and operation. KiMi BV and Tribeca are excellent partners that want to give the mansion a purpose that respects the atmosphere and history of the area and adds value to the city, said Alderman Rik Thijs (Climate and Greening).
New Chapter for Tribeca
This marks a new and promising chapter for Tribeca, the two-star restaurant in Heeze. Various concepts are planned, including accessible formats, fine dining, and accommodation options. Besides dining, it will also host celebrations such as anniversaries and weddings.
The wine cellar, managed by Vino de Franciscus B.V., will be open for wine tastings and courses. The mansion can also be visited by appointment, including the so-called Herenkamertje of Frits Philips.
The fine dining restaurant will cater to national and international guests, both from the business sector and private individuals. The more casual restaurant will focus on groups, families, and visitors of the estate, welcoming a wide audience. Jan Sobecki from Tribeca stated, This has been a long-held dream. I am immensely grateful to everyone involved for the opportunity to continue our culinary journey at this iconic location. It allows us to create something unique with the Municipality of Eindhoven, honoring the legacy of the Philips family and adding new chapters to their rich history. Nothing will change for Tribeca in Heeze for the time being.
The Mansion
Estate De Wielewaal was purchased in 1912 by Anton Philips as a retreat and has remained closed to the public for many years. The mansion was built in 1934 at the request of Frits Philips and was inhabited by him and his family for many years. In 2022, the Municipality of Eindhoven acquired Estate De Wielewaal, including the mansion, and aims to partially open the estate to the public in the second half of 2025, allowing visitors to enjoy the nature and cultural history of the estate.
KiMi BV
To give the mansion a new purpose, the municipality has chosen to lease it to KiMi BV, the holding company of Brabant entrepreneur Frank van Gool, founder of OTTO Work Force and KaFra Housing, and initiator of the Legends Lounge in the Philips Stadium. Frank van Gool commented, Establishing this top restaurant is a wonderful way to give this iconic estate a new future. The very talented chef Jan Sobecki can truly spread his wings here. Other initiatives are also possible around this.
Developing Plans
With the provisional award to KiMi BV, the concretization phase begins, expected to last until July 12, 2025. During this phase, the plans will be further developed, and an agreement will be drawn up, including permit applications. The plans will be discussed with entrepreneurs from the area and local residents.
The aim is for the mansion to open its doors to guests in the spring of 2026.
