Locations of Five Libraries in Eindhoven Revealed

The library is an initiative from various partners: Library Eindhoven, CKE, Lumens, Volunteer Help Service Eindhoven, and WIJeindhoven. The locations were chosen after research and discussions with residents and organizations in the districts. The libraries work closely with community centers and other meeting places.

Locations Revealed

Five (future) locations have now been announced. The libraries in Tongelre (Bloemfonteinstraat) and Woensel-North (Tarwelaan) are already open to the public. Later, the library from Woensel-North will move to Stadshart Woensel. In Woensel-South, the library will be located in community center De Werf, and in Stratum at Kardinaal de Jongweg 73. In Gestel, the library will have a temporary home in community house Genderdal. In the future, a larger space will be available at Kastelenplein. Research is currently being conducted for the best location for the sixth library (Strijp).

Developing in Ones Own Way

Councilor Mieke Verhees: The libraries are central places where residents can go for much more than just books. They will become meeting places for the neighborhood, with room for various activities. These can be initiatives from partner organizations, but also from residents. Each library will develop in its own way.

The library is there for everyone in the neighborhood and offers activities to reduce loneliness, improve language skills, and enhance digital skills. Albert Kivits, on behalf of Library Eindhoven, is involved with the libraries. He says: The libraries contribute to all Eindhoven residents feeling at home in our city. Everyone should be able to participate in our society and develop themselves. This is a place where you have space and where we look after each other.

City Hearts

The centers of the Eindhoven districts will be further developed into vibrant city hearts, such as Stadshart Woensel and Kastelenplein. The city hearts will be pleasant, lively places that are well accessible and where additional housing will be added. Councilor Verhees: This also includes social facilities where residents can meet each other. A library can be part of this.
