Commission endorses the integration of the voluntary Code of Practice on Disinformation into the Digital Services Act

Today, the Commission and the European Board for Digital Services endorsed the integration of the voluntary Code of Practice on Disinformation into the framework of the Digital Services Act (DSA). This integration will make the Code a benchmark for determining platforms compliance with the DSA.

In January 2025, the signatories of the Code – including companies designated under the DSA as Very Large Online Platforms and Search Engines (VLOPEs), such as Google, Meta, Microsoft and TikTok – submitted all the necessary documents supporting their request for its conversion into a Code of Conduct under the DSA.

With its integration, full adherence to the Code may be considered as an appropriate risk mitigation measure for signatories designated as VLOPs and VLOSEs under the DSA. As such, the Code will become a significant and meaningful benchmark for determining DSA compliance. Compliance with the commitments under the Code will also be part of the annual independent audit, which these platforms are subject to under the DSA.

Survey shows Europeans support AI at work

Most Europeans believe digital technologies, including AI, positively impact their jobs, economy, society, and quality of life, according to a new Eurobarometer survey.

More than 60% view robots and AI favorably at work, and over 70% say they boost productivity. However, 84% of Europeans believe AI requires careful management to protect privacy and ensure workplace transparency.

Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu stated: « AI is now integral to modern workplaces. We must use it to aid and protect workers, supported by solid rules such as our General Data Protection Regulation, AI legislation, and platform work directive. We will assess how these rules are applied to address AIs impact across the labor market. »

The survey results align with a key goal of the EU Competitiveness Compass: integrating digital technologies and AI into workplaces to boost innovation and productivity. The EU allocated €2 billion from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and €23 billion from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) to support digital skills development. The Digital Europe Programme also invested €580 million to advance digital skills between 2021 and 2027.

Detailed survey information is available online.
