EU Increases Humanitarian Aid in Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Rohingya Crisis

The Commission has today allocated €76 million in EU humanitarian aid to address the needs of people affected by major crises in South and Southeast Asia. €32.3 million will aid Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, €33 million will support those affected by the conflict in Myanmar, and €10.8 million will assist refugees in nearby regions and bolster disaster preparedness.

Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, is visiting Bangladesh today to assess the situation in Rohingya refugee camps in Coxs Bazar and engage with humanitarian partners and authorities.

Commission Approves Yondr Acquisition by CDPQ and DigitalBridge

The European Commission has approved, under EU Merger Regulation, the joint control acquisition of Yondr Group Limited (Yondr) in the Netherlands by Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and DigitalBridge Group, Inc.

The transaction focuses on data center capacity provision.

The Commission concluded the transaction would not raise competition concerns due to the lack of overlapping activities. The review was conducted under a simplified merger procedure.

Commissioner Micallef at EU Youth Conference in Poland

Commissioner Glenn Micallef is in Lublin, Poland for the EU Youth Conference, part of the EU Youth Dialogue. He will deliver an opening speech and engage with young people to promote youth participation in shaping EU policies.

Commissioner Micallef stated: “The EU Youth Dialogue is crucial for youth engagement, involving 30,000 to 50,000 young Europeans each cycle, allowing them to influence their future and Europes future.

Commissioner Dombrovskis in Youth Dialogue on Economic Priorities

Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, will participate in a Youth Policy Dialogue in Brussels, discussing the Commissions economic priorities with young Europeans. Topics include global challenges, Europes competitiveness, defence investment, climate change, and the digital euro.

Youth Dialogues are essential for incorporating young voices in EU policy-making.
