Investigation by the Commission and national consumer authorities

The European Commission and national consumer protection authorities from 25 Member States, Iceland, and Norway released findings from a sweep of online second-hand goods traders. This effort aimed to verify compliance with EU consumer law. Out of 356 traders checked, 185 (52%) were identified as potentially violating EU laws.

Commissioner Michael McGrath emphasized the importance of upholding consumer rights in the circular economy. Authorities will decide on actions against the non-compliant traders. Details are available in our press release.

Italian State Aid Scheme for Agriculture

The Commission approved a €90 million Italian scheme to support agricultural sectors, focusing on supply chain reorganization. This initiative will enhance local market relations and support SMEs through direct grants and subsidized services.

Czech Energy Storage Investment

The Commission approved a €279 million Czech scheme to support energy storage investments, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and promoting renewable energy integration. This will be facilitated through direct grants for new storage capacities.

Merger Approvals

The Commission approved several mergers, including those in the ship management and plastic composites sectors, concluding no competition concerns exist due to limited market positions.
