Increase in the number of sold newly built houses
In Q3 2024, over 6,500 newly built houses were sold. This is an increase of 7.2% compared to the previous quarter and more than 69% compared to the same quarter last year. This marks the fourth consecutive quarter with a positive year-on-year development in the number of sold newly built houses. The number of sold existing homes also increased in Q3 2024: over 54,000 existing homes were sold, 15.3% more than a year earlier.
Increase in average sale price of existing homes
The average sale price of existing homes was €463,000 in the third quarter. A quarter earlier, this was €441,000. For newly built houses, the average sale price was €475,000, a decrease from the previous quarter when the average price was €482,000.
House prices in the EU
The house prices for newly built and existing homes combined increased by 10.3% in Q3 2024 compared to a year earlier. This price increase puts the Netherlands in fifth place for the highest increases in Europe.
House prices in Bulgaria increased the most, by 16.5%, followed by Poland (14.4%), Hungary (13.4%), and Croatia (12.3%). The average price increase in Europe compared to Q3 2023 was 3.8%. A total of 19 countries had price increases above the average, while eight countries had decreases. Four countries experienced negative developments compared to last year, with the largest decreases occurring in France (-3.5%) and Finland (-2.8%).
