New DJIzien Released

The new DJIzien has been released. Here, you can read about various developments at DJI and collaborations with various chain partners. The new DJIzien once again offers plenty of learning and reading material. Below is a selection of the articles – but there is much more to read.

Journalists in the EBI

The most heavily secured prison in the Netherlands is constantly the subject of media attention. And where you report on, you preferably want to see with your own eyes. However, that strict regime was also the reason that the doors have been closed to journalists for years. Until last February 14.

Prisoners Abroad

About 1800 people with Dutch nationality are imprisoned in foreign prisons. They are entitled to consular assistance. In practice, this means that consular staff around the world visit Dutch detainees abroad.

Womens Prison Requires Different Approach

Recent research from Leiden University shows that social safety in womens prisons is particularly vulnerable. Therefore, a different approach is needed in these prisons. Wim Saris, Director-General of DJI: ‘One sentence in the report particularly touched me. That womens detention is a deficient form of mens detention. That presents a significant task for me.’
