The Minister of Agriculture has announced new precautions for the calf sector. This entails a national ban on veal calf transport and visitor restrictions. This decision follows the recent import of calves from Brandenburg, Germany, through collection centers to the Netherlands. On January 10, it became evident that some water buffaloes in Brandenburg were infected with foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). Currently, there are no indications or suspicions of infection in the Netherlands.
