The suspect is accused of producing ecstasy and methamphetamine. Additionally, the Public Prosecution Service requested that the suspect be ordered to reimburse the costs incurred for clearing the production site and disposing of the drugs and chemical waste. The bill amounts to over 53,000 euros.
The drug lab that the police dismantled on June 4, 2024, turned out to be a large-scale production site for MDMA and crystal meth. 102 kilograms of MDMA, 53 kilograms of methamphetamine, 194 liters of methamphetamine oil, and over 29.5 kilograms of methamphetamine tartrate were found. The street value of the drugs amounts to more than 11 million euros.
In the middle of a residential area
“The production site in this case was located in the middle of a residential area. During the search, young children were constantly seen walking past the house with their parents.” The prosecutor referred to the fact that this production site was close to an elementary school. In court, the prosecutor stated: “If an explosion had occurred during the production in this lab, the consequences for the residents would have been enormous and many innocent victims would have fallen.”
Costs for clearing the production site
In addition to a prison sentence of 6 years and a fine of 60,000 euros, the Public Prosecution Service also demanded reimbursement of the costs incurred for cleaning up and disposing of the drugs, the boilers, and the chemicals present, a cost amounting to over 53,000 euros. “That was appropriate,” said the prosecutor. “There must be a hard stance against these forms of undermining crime, especially at production sites of this scale and level of professionalism. The police had not encountered such a professional and large lab for a long time.”
The court will deliver its verdict in two weeks.
