The Public Prosecution Service (OM) announced in 2023 that it would prosecute two companies responsible for the production and sale of the Stint and two executives of these companies for committing multiple criminal offenses. The substantive handling of the criminal case was initially scheduled for March and April 2025 but has been postponed.
The extensive file was made available to the defense in August 2023. In the period that followed, several witnesses were heard by the examining magistrate at the request of the defense.
Speedily
In the interest of the victims, relatives, and defendants, the OM has aimed for a speedy handling of the criminal case. For that reason, the substantive handling of the case was previously scheduled in consultation with the court and the defense of the defendants. This involved five hearing days in March and April 2025 at the East Brabant court.
Reports
Recently, the defense submitted four reports. These include technical investigations by external experts. The OM has taken note of these reports and, considering their content, will likely want to present some reports to the experts who were previously appointed in the investigation, after which one or more hearings of these experts by the examining magistrate may follow. The chairperson of the multi-member chamber of the court has determined that the start of the substantive handling on March 31 is no longer considered realistic. The handling is therefore being rescheduled. A new date has not yet been set.
The OM has informed the victims and their relatives.
