Opening of the Cruyff Court in Bonaire at Fundashon Kuido pa Personanan Desabilitá

Kralendijk – with the official opening of Cruyff Court Ban Hasi Sport at Fundashon Kuido pa Personanan Desabilitá (FKPD), Bonaire gains a new inclusive sports facility. The Cruyff Court, specially designed for people with disabilities, was opened today by a special delegation consisting of the Deputy of Society & Care Bonaire, Nina den Heyer, the State Secretary for Youth, Prevention & Sport of the Ministry of Health, Welfare & Sport (VWS), Vincent Karremans, the director of the Johan Cruyff Foundation, Niels Meijer, and Louella Rooijer, board member of FKPD.

The Cruyff Court provides a unique and safe environment for people with disabilities to engage in sports, challenge themselves physically, and be part of the community. The Cruyff Court is the result of close collaboration between the Cruyff Foundation, the local government of Bonaire, and FKPD, aiming to enhance access to sports and physical activity for people with disabilities.

Nina den Heyer, Deputy of Society & Care Bonaire:

The opening of this Cruyff Court is a moment we can be proud of as a community. It not only provides a place for sports and physical activity but also strengthens the sense of connection and equality. I am glad that we, together with VWS, the Cruyff Foundation, and FKPD, have been able to realize this facility.

Vincent Karremans, State Secretary for Youth, Prevention & Sport:

Sports and physical activity are a must. We are made for it. It’s fun, energizing, and keeps you fit, both physically and mentally. Learning young means doing old, so let’s encourage everyone, young and old, to get moving. Also for those who find it difficult now, for example due to a disability. My motto is: everyone off the couch. With this beautiful new Cruyff Court in Bonaire, it will be much easier for many people to get moving today.”

Niels Meijer, Director of the Cruyff Foundation:

The Cruyff Foundation is committed to a world where everyone, regardless of their disability, can participate in sports. The Cruyff Court in Bonaire is a great example of how sports have the power to bring people together. We are proud to make such an impact together with local partners.

Edilse Goeloe, Director of Fundashon Kuido pa Personanan Desabilitá:

This Cruyff Court is a dream come true for us. It offers the people we support daily not only the chance to be physically active but also boosts their self-confidence. It’s an important step towards the inclusion of people with disabilities in Bonaire.

With the opening of the Cruyff Court, a valuable contribution is made to promoting inclusion and increasing opportunities for people with disabilities to actively participate in society.
