On January 14, the Senate remembered former senator Minny Luimstra-Albeda. She served the CDA for over six years in the Senate, focusing on culture and European collaboration. Before politics, she was involved with various business associations, such as the Dutch Christian Employers Association. In 1982, she became an alderman in Amsterdam, handling art affairs and social welfare. Her maiden speech in 1993 addressed the need for leadership in cultural heritage preservation. Beyond her political work, Luimstra was active in cultural and housing organizations, serving as chair of several foundations.
During the memorial, Senate President Jan Anthonie Bruijn quoted her brother, former senator Wil Albeda, who described her as a spontaneous, intelligent, and witty woman. Her career showed her deep social engagement. May our respect for her and her contributions to society and Dutch democracy support her family and friends.
