On Wednesday, February 19, alderman Marike de Nobel (Culture) proudly presented the Golden K to Meike Veldhuijsen, director of the KOP foundation. The Golden K is an award presented annually to individuals who exceptionally contribute to visual arts and/or visual artists. The Breda cultural entrepreneur received this prestigious national award for her broad commitment to the cultural sector in Breda, particularly for the talent development of young creators.
A driving force behind talent development
Meike Veldhuijsen is a dedicated cultural entrepreneur, organizer, and curator in art and cultural projects. As the director of the KOP foundation, she has been committed since 2018 to supporting and guiding young artists in Breda. KOP serves as a springboard for emerging artists and brings art to Breda through projects in public spaces. Together with a valuable network and inspiring assignments, KOP helps artists find their voice and make their work visible. KOP provides residents, partners, and clients with art that connects, inspires, and highlights social themes. KOP receives a four-year cultural subsidy from the Municipality of Breda.
