Twenty-three teachers have received the Teacher PhD Grant, with a total of over 4.9 million euros allocated. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science annually provides 9 million euros for these projects through 2026, allowing teachers to advance professionally and strengthen the connection between schools and universities.
The awarded projects highlight the programs wide-ranging scientific nature. For example, Niels Hexspoor from Esprit Schools is developing an ecological ethics curriculum to guide students in handling value conflicts arising from the climate crisis. Anouk Loeffen from HAN University is investigating products and procedures that could complement conventional periodontitis treatments. Over the next five years, the project leaders will conduct research leading to PhD qualifications.
