Regiline Sambo Head of Youth Care at Care and Youth Caribbean Netherlands

Starting March 1, Regiline Sambo will take on the role of Head of Youth Care at Care and Youth Caribbean Netherlands (ZJCN), having served as acting head for over a year. Sambo has worked for over 11 years at Youth Care Caribbean Netherlands, with the last 6 years in a leadership role. As head, she is responsible for implementing youth policy and foster care in the Caribbean Netherlands.

Sambo: “I feel strongly called to contribute to the well-being of children and youth in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. This is a calling I have had since a very young age: every child deserves a fair chance. From this standpoint, together with my team, I am committed to a strategic approach to improve and ensure the quality of youth care on the islands.

I believe in the power of collaboration and teamwork. For me, collaboration equals creating support and capacity. This, in my opinion, is crucial for the success of providing assistance. When it comes to supporting children and their caregivers, integral collaboration within and outside the youth care system is inevitable. Only together can we create a healthy and supportive environment in which children and youth on the islands can grow up safely.”

Herbert Barnard, director ZJCN: I am delighted with Regilines appointment. Regiline has worked for over a decade in Youth Care and has shown the ability to quickly assess complex and delicate situations and act effectively, considering all parties involved. The role of Head of Youth Care is a logical next step for her. I look forward to further intensifying our collaboration.

Youth Care Caribbean Netherlands is responsible for secondary ambulatory care, the implementation of child protection measures, youth probation, foster care, and supported living.
