All doors of the Helmond lock need replacement because they are outdated. Rijkswaterstaat has commissioned contractor Van den Biggelaar to make new doors. The construction and water engineering company will also install them. This will take place from August to October 2025.
Each year, an inspection of the lock doors is conducted. Research now shows that the doors will last until the end of 2025 at the latest. By replacing them in time, we prevent the lock from being blocked for a long period.
Van den Biggelaar was awarded the work based on BPKV criteria, which stands for best price-quality ratio. The planning, execution method, risk management, and cooperation with the client were decisive. The contractor will also make 2 spare doors.
Planning Helmond Lock
