Along the highways in North Holland, there are many trees that are severely weakened. These trees will be removed shortly for safety reasons.

The trees are located at various points along the A1, A2, A4, A7, A8, A9, A10, A22, A200, A208, N9, and N99. Public Works and Water Management regularly conducts tree safety checks. These checks focus on trees located close to the road.

This inspection was carried out by an independent and certified tree expert, who assesses whether a tree has defects such as wood rot, diseases, or the risk of falling. After this inspection, appropriate measures are taken. Severely affected trees are cut down, but if the risk is less, the removal of dead wood or pruning may be sufficient.

The work is carried out both during the day and at night. To work safely, a lane may need to be closed, especially at night when there is less traffic and road users are less affected.
