Dear Klaus Schwab,

Dear Karin Keller-Sutter,

Your Majesties,

Presidents,

Prime Ministers,

Excellencies,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The first quarter of the century is over, bringing major shifts in global dynamics. Initially, the century began with high hopes as globalization peaked, lifting millions out of poverty, especially in India and China. However, while global connectivity remains strong, new divisions have emerged. Trade within regions now grows faster than between them, and technological controls have tightened. Despite these challenges, Europes unique social market economy and commitment to innovation provide a strong foundation for future growth.

Europe must enhance its competitiveness through a new strategy that focuses on productivity, sustainable energy, and reducing bureaucracy. This includes creating a unified capital market and simplifying regulations for businesses. Energy independence is crucial, with a shift towards clean energy sources being paramount.

Global cooperation remains vital in addressing climate change and technological advancements. Europe seeks partnerships with countries worldwide, emphasizing mutual benefits and fair competition. In this era of geopolitical competition, Europe is prepared to adapt and lead with its values.

Thank you, and long live Europe.
