Ladies and gentlemen,
Thank you for your invitation. I am truly glad to be here today. It is through gatherings like this that we can position Europe at the forefront of the sustainability race. Protecting our planet and advancing technologies for future mobility is crucial. The European Commission remains committed to its 2019 roadmap to cut emissions by 90% by 2050, especially in transport. Aviation plays a key role in this sustainability race, facing environmental pressures and the demand for reliable energy supply. We must reduce geopolitical vulnerabilities and secure competitive energy prices. The upcoming Clean Industrial Deal will strengthen our sustainable industry, paving the way for a Sustainable Transport Investment Plan. We need investments to boost cleaner fuels and support regulations like ReFuelEU Aviation and FuelEU Maritime. Current frameworks arent enough; more market investment is needed. The Draghi Report estimates decarbonizing European aviation costs 60 billion euros annually. Public and private investments are essential. Our Sustainable Transport Investment Plan will include measures to support renewable fuels and encourage financial institutions to mitigate investment risks. We will allocate 570 million euros through the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility, and the hydrogen bank will support maritime fuel projects. In the long term, we will derisk private investments and explore mechanisms to reduce synthetic fuel costs. Bold investments today are crucial for tomorrows opportunities. By acting wisely now, Europe can lead in sustainability and gain a competitive edge. Promoting innovation and smart specialization will drive growth and competitiveness. We can capitalize on clean production technologies and modernize aviation infrastructure. The STIP will also promote international cooperation using the Global Gateway. Renewable transport fuels will be integral to trade partnerships. Ladies and gentlemen, I have outlined the main pillars of our plan to address the climate crisis and global competition. Its a plan that doesnt take our aviation industrys competitiveness for granted. We aim to win this race against time and ourselves, reaffirming Europes place as a stable trading partner. Regional growth and productivity are vital to our economy. This is our plan and vision. Consistent effort will secure aviations path to net zero by 2050. Europe has the tools to protect and strengthen our Union and planet. Thank you!
