Despite the challenges facing womens rights globally, Europe remains a stronghold for gender equality. Womens role in peace and security is crucial, as seen in Ukraine, where women are pillars in society and family life.
Our Women, Peace and Security Agenda is essential for crisis management and equality. It includes conflict prevention and peace-building, ensuring womens participation in all processes.
With women at the negotiating table, peace agreements last longer. We need robust funding for womens organizations, defend civic spaces, and promote leadership.
The EUs Roadmap for Womens Rights reinforces gender equality, addressing social, economic, and technological changes while promoting gender-sensitive policies.
The Roadmap advocates for freedom from violence, health standards, economic empowerment, and political participation, steering towards a more equal society.
We call on EU institutions to support this Roadmap for a united effort on gender equality.
