Ask Your Questions via the Chat on Amsterdam.nl and in the Amsterdam App

We have a new chat function on Amsterdam.nl and in the Amsterdam App. This allows you to get quicker answers to your questions. If the chatbot cannot answer your question, a customer service representative will take over the conversation.

The chatbot is a computer that is available 24 hours a day and can handle multiple conversations simultaneously, so you don’t have to wait. Thus, the chat is a useful addition to the existing contact options of the municipality.

Accessible to Everyone

The chat is usable by everyone and especially handy for those who are hard of hearing or have difficulty speaking. You can also think about your question at your own pace, read the answer at your own speed, and respond when it suits you. Additionally, you can download the conversation so you can easily refer back to the information later.

How Does It Work?

When you open the chat, you choose the language in which you wish to converse: Dutch or English. Then, you ask your question. The chatbot tries to answer your question immediately. If it cannot do that, your question will be forwarded to a staff member. The chatbot keeps learning and will be able to answer more questions independently in the future.

Privacy and Security

At the start of the chat, you will receive a message about privacy. This outlines how the municipality handles your data. We only ask for personal data if it is necessary to assist you further. If it is not necessary, your conversation remains anonymous. View the full privacy statement at Privacy Statement Customer Contact and Services.

Where Can You Find the Chat?

The chat is currently available on several pages of Citizen Affairs on Amsterdam.nl and in the Contact module of the Amsterdam App. In the future, the chat will be available on more pages.
