Suspect in deadly collision in Valkenburg released

The 29-year-old suspect in a deadly collision in Valkenburg on January 19, 2025, has been released today. Investigations have shown that there seems to be no evidence of intentional collision at this time. The Public Prosecution Service has therefore released the man, who remains a suspect.

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, around 8:00 PM, a 36-year-old man was hit on a parking lot along Voorschoterweg in Valkenburg. A 29-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter because there were indications that he may have intentionally hit the victim.

Investigations have since indicated that there seems to be no evidence of intentional collision. Therefore, there are currently insufficient compelling reasons to keep the suspect in pre-trial detention for this offense. The Public Prosecution Service has decided today to release the suspect pending further investigation and the court hearing. The man remains a suspect.
