Bird flu has been detected at a laying farm in Idsegahuizum (municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân, province of Friesland). To prevent the spread of the virus, approximately 37,000 animals at the location will be culled by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA).
There are no other poultry farms within the 1-kilometer zone. Within the 3-kilometer zone, there is 1 other poultry farm that is being screened by the NVWA. In the 10-kilometer zone, there are 10 other farms with poultry. In total, there are 11 farms in the zone.
