The Public Prosecution Service in Northern Netherlands has decided that a 40-year-old woman from Heerhugowaard may await the investigation regarding the art theft at the Drents Museum in freedom.
On January 25, 2025, various valuable Romanian art treasures were stolen from that museum. The woman had been in pre-trial detention since late January. She remains a suspect.
Three men aged 26, 34, and 36, all from Heerhugowaard, are still in custody. On May 9, 2025, the court in Assen will hold a first public hearing regarding a possible extension of their pre-trial detention.
Restrictions have been imposed on them. This means they are not allowed to have contact with the outside world and can only communicate with their lawyer.
