To improve healthcare for patients from Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba sent to Colombia, the Caribbean Netherlands Youth and Care (ZJCN), part of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS), organized a working visit to Cali and Medellín last week. The deputies responsible for healthcare on the islands and several ZJCN case managers attended. The latter group took masterclasses from specialists on efficiently monitoring patients during medical missions.
Deputies Informed, ZJCN Case Managers Trained
In recent years, many improvements have been made in medical missions to Colombia. Since deputies are often a first point of contact for citizens, it was important for them to join the trip. This way, they stay updated on the latest developments and can better inform the public about potential medical missions. The trip was also valuable for the case managers. They visited treatment centers where patients from the Caribbean Netherlands are assisted, allowing them to better guide and support patients being sent abroad.
Healthcare in Colombia Further Optimized
The working visit to Colombia was part of ZJCNs mission to provide accessible, equitable, and reliable healthcare for everyone in the Caribbean Netherlands. Collaborations with healthcare providers in Aruba, Sint Maarten, Colombia, and the Netherlands have strengthened post-COVID-19, and the service processes have become more efficient. The insights and contacts gained during this visit contribute to further improving ZJCNs service level.
