Clean-up campaign a great success: the entire municipality clean in one day
On Friday, March 20, the largest clean-up campaign ever held in our municipality took place: “Alphen aan den Rijn in 1 Dag Schoon”. More than 2,600 volunteers, from schoolchildren to businesses, joined forces to clean up litter.
A great success
The day began with a festive kick-off. Deputy Mayor Judith Bokhove gave the official starting signal in the morning from the Castellum Theater. The opening was broadcast live online so that schools and other participants in different locations could also watch along. Influencers Quinn and Aaron hosted an interactive quiz and, like storyteller “Nico met z’n kliko”, visited several locations in the municipality to motivate young people with humor and personal stories. Participants could register their clean-up efforts via an app to raise money for charities.
On Saturday, March 21, a smaller clean-up campaign also took place in Boskoop as part of the “National Clean-up Day”. Together with IVN, Boskoop Schittert, local entrepreneurs, and volunteers, this too proved a success. The clean-up campaigns not only made the municipality cleaner but also raised awareness about waste. The municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn, Rijkswaterstaat, the Rubbiz Foundation, and all other involved parties can therefore look back with pride on this successful first edition of “Alphen aan den Rijn in 1 Dag Schoon”.
You can watch an aftermovie of this first edition here on YouTube.
