Results of central vote count in Amersfoort municipal election announced
GROENLINKS / Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) is the largest party in Amersfoort with seven seats. This follows from the central (re)count of the votes. KeiHart voor Amersfoort, which appeared on the ballot for the first time this year, is the second-largest party with six seats. Mayor Lucas Bolsius presented the results per party, per candidate, and the distribution of remaining seats on Friday, March 20, during a meeting in the council chamber of City Hall.
More than two-thirds of eligible residents cast their votes. With a turnout of 66.5%, this is more than 12% above the national average. This is also the highest turnout in Amersfoort in 40 years of municipal elections.
Around 1,300 engaged residents and municipal employees made this municipal election possible. After the polling stations closed on Wednesday evening, March 18, a quick count provided the preliminary results. On Thursday, March 19, all votes were recounted during the central (re)count in Sporthal Zielhorst.
