Residents of the Municipality of Amersfoort already separate their waste, but improvement is still needed. There is still too much contamination in the PMD waste. As a result, no new raw materials can be recovered from the waste to make new products. PMD is used, for example, to make new packaging, benches, and flower boxes.

One container, rejection of the entire load

Even a small amount of contaminated waste can have major consequences. If just one container of PMD waste from the neighborhood is contaminated, the entire contents of the ROVA truck are rejected. This load ends up with residual waste and is incinerated. Incinerating waste costs a lot of money, while properly separated waste actually generates money because new raw materials are recovered from it. We all pay for this. Separating waste is therefore good for the wallet and better for the environment.
