Amsterdam residents and Weespers who stop burning wood can receive up to €3,000 subsidy for the removal or rendering unusable of their flue. We aim to reduce the emission of wood smoke and the nuisance and health risks for the burner and neighbors.
This subsidy is a trial. You can apply for the subsidy starting April 3, 2025. After the trial ends, we will evaluate and determine if the subsidy will be made available again with a larger budget. For this trial, €120,000 is available.
Health Problems
When burning wood for 4 hours, an average of 28 grams of fine dust comes out of the chimney. Thats about the volume of a small jar. Fine dust is harmful to everyone and can cause long-term health problems such as asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.
How much subsidy can you get?
- €1,500 subsidy for a quote of at least €1,500.
- With City Pass: €1,500 subsidy for a quote between €1,500 and €3,000.
€3,000 subsidy for a quote of €3,000 or higher. - Small VvE’s (up to 6 homes): maximum €6,500 subsidy. For 3 or fewer owners, each owner receives €1,500.
- If a quote is lower than €1,500, you will not receive a subsidy.

You can receive a subsidy if:
- The flue is currently connected to a functioning wood-burning installation.
