NLdoet: Council Lends a Helping Hand at Care Farm Hapert
On Friday, March 13, the council rolled up their sleeves at Care Farm Hapert. Here, experienced staff and volunteers provide professional and personal care on a daily basis. They offer day activities for adults with care needs: people with acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities, forms of dementia, and the elderly.
As part of NLdoet, an annual event organized by the Oranje Fonds, the council also wanted to contribute. The four aldermen were warmly welcomed into two groups by both the caregivers and participants of the day activities. Then it was time to help out with the day’s activities. Newspaper articles from that day were read aloud so the participants could stay informed about current events. And since the weather was too poor for a walk, they played indoor skittles and helped prepare lunch. There was plenty of opportunity for personal interaction.
On behalf of the aldermen, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers (from drivers to interns) for the wonderful work they do every day for our residents. This gives informal caregivers and partners some much-needed respite, while the participants enjoy meaningful day activities. It’s great that this can happen so close to home.
