Himmelwike: 844 pairs of hands help clean up litter
During the Himmelwike, high school students from fifteen schools in the municipality will be busy cleaning up litter. The action week coincides with the Week of the Circular Economy, which focuses on reuse and responsible use of raw materials. On Monday, March 16, students from CBS De Trieme in Sintjohannesga will get to work. Together with alderman Jan van Zanden, they will head out with litter pickers, gloves, and trash bags to make the municipality clean and ready for spring.
In addition to the litter pick, alderman Van Zanden will also tell the students more about waste and how it is separated and collected within the municipality. The children will learn how waste can be reused as raw material for new products. The students from CBS De Trieme will also have the opportunity to take a look inside the cabin of a municipal garbage truck.
