New digital map for borrowing, sharing, and repairing in Deventer
During the ‘Love What You Have’ festival on Saturday, March 21, the digital map ‘Zoek het om de Hoek’ (Find It Around the Corner) was launched. The map shows where residents can borrow, share, donate, or buy second-hand items in their own neighbourhood.

On the map (Links to an external website) there are more than 350 locations in Deventer and surrounding villages where you can go with your items. Whether you want to have your jeans shortened, get your coffee machine repaired, or donate books, there are plenty of places nearby. By borrowing, sharing, donating, and repairing items, we extend their lifespan and reduce the need to buy new ones.

Councillor Lars Wijnhoud opened the festival on Saturday alongside Deventer’s climate mayors. He emphasised the importance of the map: “It was a fantastic festival, and the map shows how much is already happening in Deventer. It makes circular action accessible and concrete for everyone. Whether you want to have something repaired or share it with your neighbours, the ‘Zoek het om de Hoek’ map makes it easy.”
The climate mayors were also enthusiastic about the festival and the map. Marieke Hagemans said: “What we saw today is that many people are already thinking carefully about how they handle their belongings. ‘Zoek het om de Hoek’ helps make it easier to connect with each other and support local entrepreneurs.” Ruurd van Schaik added: “The great thing is that it doesn’t have to be complicated. Small choices, like repairing or borrowing, already make a difference. ‘Zoek het om de Hoek’ makes that visible and achievable.”
Why we created this map
By borrowing, sharing, and repairing items, we use fewer new raw materials. This aligns with Deventer’s ambition to be 50% circular by 2030 and to use energy and materials more efficiently. By extending the lifespan of items, we reduce waste and CO₂ emissions. Small, everyday choices thus contribute to a future where living, working, and thriving in Deventer remains a good option.
