Want to become a Green Neighbour? Join us on 7 April at the meeting!
From this month, residents of the municipality of Dronten can register as a Green Neighbour. Groene Buur Dronten is an initiative by and for residents who work together to create a greener living environment and inspire others to do the same. To launch the network, Groene Buur is looking for enthusiastic pioneers: residents with green thumbs or simply a green heart.
Information meeting
An information meeting will be held on 7 April. During this session, it will be explained what Groene Buur entails, how the initiative works and how residents can participate. Everyone is welcome at 19:30 at Theehuis in Ontmoetingspark Buiten in Dronten.
What does a Green Neighbour do?
A Green Neighbour cares about greenery and insects and enjoys inspiring others to do the same. Some share cuttings via a cuttings table, while others create street tree gardens or help neighbours remove paving stones. A green front garden, a blooming balcony or fewer paving stones in the street: Dronten is committed to a climate-resilient, healthy and nature-rich living environment. More greenery helps keep the villages liveable and attractive. Plants provide cooling during hot summers, allow rainwater to drain better and offer food and shelter for birds and insects. Groene Buur is not just about plants, but also about connecting residents.
The first Green Neighbour
Ingrid Hagg is Dronten’s first Green Neighbour. In 2015, she began tackling overgrown bulb strips. Through her efforts, sections were radically cleared and opened up for views. She also started the Ontmoetingstuin at De Oeverloper. Her dedication to a greener Dronten makes her the perfect first Green Neighbour.
You can register for the information meeting on the Groene Buur website: https://groenebuur.nl/dronten/.
