Asbestos was released during a fire in a warehouse of the former Kernhem garden center. The entire N224 between Lunterseweg and Raadhuisstraat is closed due to the asbestos particles. The N224 is also closed to cyclists and pedestrians at Lunterseweg.

The fire has been extinguished and the fire department is no longer on site. The asbestos particles around the N224 are being cleaned up by a specialized company, which may take some time, so the road remains closed.

Residents in the adjacent residential area may still find soot particles. The soot particles will wash away with rain or can be swept up with a dustpan and brush. The garbage bag should be tied and disposed of with regular waste. Afterwards, you should wash your hands.
