Renovation of plant beds throughout Eemnes
Eemnes is becoming greener, more beautiful, and more future-proof!
At the moment, work is in full swing at dozens of locations in Eemnes to renovate plant beds. Our own outdoor services team and various contractors are busy planting new vegetation.
Alderman René ten Have: "This fits perfectly within our green plan. In this way, we ensure a fresh and sustainable streetscape that aligns with our green ambitions."
What exactly is happening?
Over time, plant beds become "worn out"; plants no longer thrive, and bare patches appear. That is why we are replacing the old vegetation with new, hardy species that:
- contribute to biodiversity,
- are climate-adaptive (resistant to heat, drought, and waterlogging),
- are robust and can withstand a bit of rough handling,
- are resistant to de-icing salt,
- and fit well within the surroundings.
In addition, we are also planting new trees to replace those that had to be removed earlier. Lava granules are spread on the soil of the new plant beds. Maintenance-free and water-permeable—very practical.
When will it be finished?
Some areas have already been completed, while others are still under construction. If everything goes according to plan, the work will be finished by mid-March.
By replacing a portion of the vegetation each year, we are giving Eemnes’ greenery a sustainable future. This way, our municipality remains not only an attractive place to live but also healthier for people and nature alike.
