We are looking for a secretary of the objections committee / legal advisor, who gets excited about delving into legal issues. Together with the objections committee and your colleagues, you ensure that residents and entrepreneurs go through a fair and careful objection process. In addition, you take care of the legal quality of proposals and policy documents for the college and the municipal council.
What will you be doing?
As secretary of the objections committee:
- You prepare objection cases for handling in the objections committee.
- You independently write well-founded advice for the objections committee.
- You guide meetings of the objections committee.
- You maintain contact with all parties involved (committee members of the objections committee, objectors, and colleagues).
- You prepare the annual report of the objections committee.
- You coordinate with administrative support regarding the sending of receipt confirmations and letters in the objection process. Together, you also ensure correct archiving.
As a legal advisor:
- You advise the organization on legal questions from all domains within the municipality.
- You check college and council proposals for legal correctness.
- You request advice from the in-house lawyer in case of specialist questions.
- You implement and advise on the implementation of new legislation and amendments (in coordination/cooperation with colleagues in the other Kempengemeenten).
- You advise on the establishment or amendment of joint regulations and cooperation agreements in which the municipality participates.

The team
You will join a fun and cozy team of 11 colleagues. It is a diverse team where everyone has their own tasks, but if necessary, we take over each other's work. We find it important that we as a team fit with you and you of course also fit with us.
What do you bring?
Hard requirements:
- A completed legal education at HBO or WO level.
- Demonstrable legal knowledge of – and experience with the Awb, Municipalities Act, and environmental law.
- Up-to-date knowledge of administrative process law and relevant legal areas.
- Excellent analytical skills: you can easily see the bigger picture and translate this into legal advice.
- You enjoy advising and can explain matters clearly in plain language.
- You are strong in communication, both verbally and in writing. You translate your advice and decisions into understandable language for both objectors and colleagues.
Nice to have:
- Work experience as secretary of an objections committee.
- Work experience in the legal field at a municipality.
- Affinity with the spatial domain.

What do we offer?
- A full-time base salary of a maximum of € 6,343 gross per month (according to scale 11 (indicative) cao Municipalities), based on a 36-hour work week. Depending on your experience, a good offer will be made, within the maximum amount.
- If you do not yet fully meet everything we ask of the position, you start in introductory scale 10.
- In addition to your salary, you receive an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 17.05% of your gross salary. You can spend this budget as you wish, for example by buying extra vacation days or by choosing a payout in cash. You decide what best suits your life phase and personal wishes;
- 201.6 hours of leave, whereby you can annually buy a maximum of 187 extra hours with your IKB (based on 36 hours);
- Excellent pension accrual with ABP – of which the employer pays 70% – including a solid safety net in case of death and disability. A reassuring thought, should you ever have to deal with it;
- Possibility for hybrid and flexible working;
- An extra allowance of € 659 net per year based on 36 hours;
- With good performance, a contract for an indefinite period after one year.
