The Municipality of Eindhoven has launched the Share the City campaign under the motto smarter, cleaner, faster, more social. The aim is to draw attention to mobility hubs for shared transport.
50 Mobility Hubs
A mobility hub is a recognizable place in the neighborhood where you can pick up a shared bicycle, scooter, or other means of transport. And also return it neatly. It makes it easier and clearer to use shared transport. This summer, the number of hubs will grow from 19 to more than 50 spread across the city.
To ensure a tidy street scene, a digital zone will be established around each hub. This means that a ride can only end at a hub. Therefore, there will be no more wandering bicycles or scooters on sidewalks or street corners.
Citywide Network
The municipality wants to inform residents well about the new hubs and what this means for the use of shared transport. In the long term, the intention is for the hub to become the norm throughout the city. This way, the street scene will be much neater. It is hoped for fewer wandering bicycles or scooters on sidewalks or street corners. Users of shared transport will no longer have to search for a place to park their vehicle.
The goal is to create 30 to 40 new hubs every six months and to expand neighborhood by neighborhood into a citywide network of approximately 500 hubs. This also means that in areas where there are no hubs yet, the current digital service area will continue to operate as it does now.
Offline and Online Action
The campaign consists of four street actions at different hubs, but a lot is also happening online. On openeindhoven.nl/share-the-city, you can read everything about the hubs. Where they are located, how to use them, which providers are involved, and how you can start affordably with action codes. On social media, Eindhoven residents share their experiences with shared transport via Facebook, Instagram, and other channels.
