Construction work at De Zandzee car park starting 7 April 2026
From 7 April 2026, we will be renovating the car park at De Zandzee. You will still be able to park, but not in all areas. The bicycle parking facilities will remain accessible, so if possible, please cycle to the location.
Car park to close in phases from 7 April
- A section of the car park will remain open for visitors at all times
- Approximately 35 additional parking spaces will temporarily be available on the grass field behind De Zandzee
- The closures will shift between phases. Once a section is completed and deemed safe, it will be reopened
New car park with solar-powered canopy
The underground drainage system beneath the car park is outdated. During heavy rainfall, water tends to accumulate. For this reason, we will replace both the drainage system and the pavement. We will also install a solar carport: a canopy equipped with solar panels that generates sustainable electricity and provides shade for parked cars.
Sustainability upgrades at De Zandzee from 1 June 2026
Following the car park renovations, De Zandzee will undergo sustainability upgrades in the summer of 2026. The building will be fitted with new, energy-efficient systems, including heat pumps, modern air handling units, and a system that recycles heat from the swimming pool and showers. These works are expected to begin on 1 June 2026 and will take approximately 10 weeks to complete. The electricity generated by the solar carport will be directly supplied to De Zandzee, helping to meet part of the swimming pool’s additional energy needs in a sustainable and local manner.
