Joint efforts yield great results during NLdoet
NLdoet is the largest volunteer event in the Netherlands. On this day, the Oranje Fonds provides practical and effective support to volunteer organizations throughout the country. In our municipality as well, residents were busy with all kinds of tasks. The mayor and aldermen are proud of the many active residents. The best way to show that? By participating, of course! Alderman Wink expressed his appreciation for NLdoet: “Volunteers mean a great deal to our community. As a municipality, we support them wherever possible and are happy to show how important their efforts are. During NLdoet, the municipal executive demonstrates this by actively lending a hand. The mayor also rolled up his sleeves on Saturday at the Heemtuin in Malden. I myself worked with the Erfgoedplatform at the old town hall in Overasselt.” Despite the rain, Saturday’s weather wasn’t ideal for outdoor work. Yet there was no sign of that. The atmosphere was great at all locations, and everyone worked hard. The results speak for themselves. In the Heemtuin, insects now have a fresh nesting spot in the refurbished large insect hotel. And at the old town hall, the greenery has been neatly trimmed. During NLDoet, volunteers were also active at Malderburch, Rijvereniging and Ponyclub Malden, Heumense Tennis Club, Natuur Stichting Kadans, and Dorpshuis Ons Huis.
