New bridges in De Goorn officially opened
Two important new bridges have been officially opened in De Goorn. These improvements have significantly enhanced navigation for recreational boaters and resolved bottlenecks along the Westerkogge waterway. A significant step forward in improving the recreational accessibility of our polder.
Last Tuesday, alderpersons Bart Krijnen, Jeroen Schilder, and Marian van Kampen opened the renovated bridges at De Goorn 3 and 10. The ceremonial opening marks a major milestone in improving the waterway through the Westerkogge.
The construction work has resolved two critical bottlenecks, allowing recreational boaters to navigate comfortably and without obstacles. Thanks to the increased clearance height, ducking or even lying flat in the boat is now a thing of the past. Other improvements have also been made, such as addressing sunken bridge abutments and trimming overhanging greenery.
These adjustments are part of a larger project to strengthen the waterway in the Westerkogge polder. The project was made possible in part by a grant from the Province of North Holland.
A special word of thanks goes to Doe Team Grosthuizen. Their years of dedication, involvement, and perseverance have made a significant contribution to this achievement. Thanks to the collaboration between residents, associations, and authorities, the recreational waterway is now more beautiful, safer, and more accessible.
Together, we are making Koggenland even more attractive—especially from the water.
