Roadworks in Beegden and Panheel
Starting Monday, 30 March, work will commence on Heerstraat Zuid in Beegden and Heelderweg in Panheel. The current road narrowing no longer meets current guidelines for district access roads. The new road layout will improve both traffic safety and flow. The work is expected to take approximately four weeks and will be carried out by Asfaltbouw.
What changes will be made to the road?
- Two lanes: Cars will be able to pass each other more easily.
- A wider central reservation: This will provide a clearer separation between directions of travel and reduce the risk of accidents.
- Speed measures: As a wider road can sometimes encourage faster driving, narrower lanes with rumble strips will be introduced. The speed limit outside built-up areas will also be reduced from 80 to 60 km/h.
This new road layout will create more calm, clarity, and safety on the road.
What does this mean for you?
During the work, Beegden, Heel, and Panheel will remain accessible via detours:
- Beegden – Heel: Traffic from Heerstraat Zuid will be diverted via Kastanjelaan and Nieuwstraat.
- Panheel – Heel: Traffic from Heel will be diverted at the roundabout via Schutteheide, Daalzicht, Napoleonsbaan, and Pater Jac. Schreursweg.
Cyclists will not be affected by detours and can continue as normal.
Bus stops in Panheel temporarily suspended
The bus will travel from Dorpsstraat via Mgr. Savelbergweg and Polderweg to Wessem and back again.
Accessibility for businesses
- Businesses on Heelderweg will remain accessible from the roundabout in Panheel.
- Faassen Tuin & Dier garden centre and Faassen Hoveniers landscaping company in Beegden will remain accessible from Heel.
Additional maintenance on Heelderweg
During the closure of the road between the roundabout and Heelderweg, additional maintenance will be carried out:
- Renewal of approximately 1,800 m² of asphalt
- A new wearing course on the bridge
By carrying out this work simultaneously, we aim to minimise traffic disruption as much as possible.
