The municipal executive has approved the Resource Plan Maastricht 2026–2030. This plan describes how the city will manage waste and resources in the coming years. Many changes started in 2025. From 2026, several service-enhancing and environmentally friendly measures will be added.
What changes for residents?
- PMD will be collected from residents homes throughout the city (except for the historic city center).
- Underground residual waste containers will be installed throughout the city (residual bags will disappear)
- Collecting containers for GFT+e will be placed at apartment buildings (high-rise)
- More attention will be paid to waste nuisance and enforcement
The goal is to collect 90% of waste separately by 2030, of good quality. This is better for the environment and keeps the city cleaner.
Decision-making
The municipal council will discuss the plan in the council meeting in July. The council will also vote on the investment budget then.
