Temporary Pedestrian Bridge in City Park

On Monday, April 7, we will start working on the wooden pedestrian bridge (or Jekervoet bridge) in the city park. Since last year, it has not been usable due to its poor condition. A temporary bridge will be installed in April. After the summer, we will work on the permanent bridge.

A Temporary Solution

As the weather gets warmer and summer approaches, many people use the park for walking, for example. A temporary bridge will connect the two sides of the park during the summer. It will be placed before Kings Day. We will only start building a permanent bridge after the summer to avoid disruption. When we start exactly depends on when the permit is approved.

Schedule for Temporary Bridge Construction

  • Monday, April 7, 2025: setup of the workplace. A section on the south side of the park will be cordoned off with fences. There will be access plates for the crane.
  • Wednesday, April 9, 2025: dismantling of the current pedestrian bridge and installation of the temporary pedestrian bridge.

About two weeks later, you will be able to use the temporary bridge.

Closure and Detour

We will bring the materials needed for the work via the Maas Boulevard to the park. A part of the bus and taxi area will be temporarily closed off and there will be a parking ban. For pedestrians in the city park, nothing will change. They will continue to use the detour for a while.

About the Bridge

The bridge is 40 years old. It is located near De Vief Köp and connects the City Park with the Onze Lieve Vrouwewal. The photo shows which bridge is involved.
