Large-scale inspection of bridges, culverts and structures

Over the coming period, inspectors will be visiting bridges, culverts and other water-related structures across the municipality of Moerdijk to assess and document their condition. Artworks will also be checked. This mandatory inspection will take place between mid-March and the end of May. The municipality carries out these regular checks to ensure everything remains safe, functional and well-maintained.

Between mid-March and the end of May, inspectors from SpectGroep will examine all culverts—connecting pipes in ditches and drains—across the municipality. Controllers from Nebest will inspect bridges, tunnels, piers, walkways, stairs and retaining walls. Bureau KD will check the artworks.

Safety and functionality

The inspectors will verify whether all structures are correctly mapped and functioning. For example, a culvert connecting two ditches must be large enough to handle the expected water flow. They will look for signs of deterioration or structural issues. In some cases, measurements will be taken to assess safety. They will also assess whether maintenance, such as repainting, is required.

On foot, by bike or quad

The inspections will cover the entire municipality, including both urban and rural areas. Inspectors will walk, cycle or use a quad to travel along waterways and structures, recording their findings on a tablet.
