Exhibition of paintings and paper-cut art by Janneke Timmerarends-Vingerling in the town hall lobby
Paintings and paper-cut art by Janneke Timmerarends-Vingerling can be viewed in the lobby of the town hall during opening hours until April 17.
The work of Janneke from Ochten, who passed away suddenly on May 27, 2025, is both distinctive and versatile. The subjects of her paper-cut art draw from her own family life, while her paintings depict flowers from her garden and buildings from our municipality. The exhibition was opened by alderwoman Herma van Dijkhuizen, who remarked, among other things: “Janneke was a versatile artist, and this is a beautiful tribute to her.”
Versatile
Janneke worked in watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and oil paints. Her paper-cut art brought domestic scenes to life. She spun, dyed, and did needlework. She also dedicated herself to helping children with dyslexia and newcomers learning Dutch.
Life story
Born in Voorburg in 1946, she grew up in Gouda. She trained as a primary school teacher and later as a nurse. Later, she obtained a certificate in needlework and specialized in remedial teaching. She took painting lessons in Wageningen and Tiel. Janneke actively participated in the annual exhibition “Show What You Make,” organized by the Cultural Committee of Neder-Betuwe in Kesteren. She also enthusiastically took part in the TV program “In Search of Rembrandt,” where she portrayed Annechien Steenhuis.
Janneke enriched lives through her art. She also devoted herself to helping children with dyslexia and newcomers learning Dutch. Until the very end, she patiently gave Dutch lessons at home and at the Praathuis, ensuring her students felt truly at home in our language and community.
