Municipality of Oldambt develops Scheemder Hoogte business park
With the unveiling of the construction sign, Alderman Erich Wünker officially launched the development of Scheemder Hoogte Business Park on Friday, 13 March. This marks an important step for the municipality of Oldambt in strengthening the regional economy with a site that stands out for its sustainability and high-quality appearance.
Work is currently in full swing to realise the business park. The site is strategically located along the A7 motorway between Scheemda and Winschoten. As a successor to the successful Eextahaven business park, Scheemder Hoogte is part of a broader vision to economically strengthen and future-proof the area along the A7 and N33.
Implementation in 2 phases
The first phase involves preparing the site for construction. These works (including earthworks, installation of sewerage systems and paving) are expected to be completed by mid-2026. In the second phase, the site will be made ready for development and given its final layout. This is expected to be completed by the end of 2029 at the latest.
The western part of the site will be divided into three larger plots of approximately 4 hectares each. The eastern part will be divided into 27 smaller plots ranging in size from 886 m² to 6,200 m². This will be carried out in the second phase. The municipality is currently in the so-called tender phase, discussing the further development of the plots with applicants.
Green and high-quality business environment
The area is still largely undeveloped, but its outlines are quickly taking shape. The municipality of Oldambt is aiming for high visual quality and sustainability with this new site. Its location offers opportunities for a green, sustainable and high-quality business park. Among other features, a green strip between the site and the A7, flower borders and trees will create a strong green structure, integrating the site into its surroundings and enhancing biodiversity.
In addition, a business association will be established where future entrepreneurs on the site will collaborate and work together. In this way, Scheemder Hoogte is being developed for and by entrepreneurs.
Alderman Erich Wünker: "It is a special moment to literally give the starting signal today. With Scheemder Hoogte, we are offering entrepreneurs the space to grow in a location that is modern, sustainable and easily accessible."
Kick-off with the local community
The official kick-off will take place on Friday, 13 March at 12:30 at the entrance to the future site. In addition to stakeholders such as the Province of Groningen, RWS and the Water Board, local residents and entrepreneurs have also been invited to view the initial plans and the new construction sign.
