Ready together for the future
You may not think about it every day, but how you want to live, age and receive support deserves just as much attention as the choices you made earlier for school, work or your first home. We are living longer, staying healthier for longer and would like to continue enjoying our own surroundings for as long as possible. This applies to the whole of the Netherlands, but certainly also to Oost Gelre.
Frans Miggelbrink is ambassador of the Achterhoekbank and discussion leader at the meetings.
Yet many people postpone these conversations. Understandably so: it sometimes still feels a long way off, or you’re not sure where to start. But thinking about the future now will help you continue doing what’s important to you later. How will you stay fit? Will your home still suit you in the future? And who can help you if you need care later on?
Why this is important now
Ageing is increasing rapidly. You’ve probably heard this before, but what does it really mean? In Oost Gelre, the number of older people will grow significantly in the coming years. This calls for suitable housing, adequate care and good support. At the same time, we are already seeing a shortage of suitable homes, a scarcity of nursing home places and an increasing reliance on home care.
You might think: “I’m only 55, this doesn’t apply to me yet.” But it does. If you want to continue living independently and comfortably in the future, it starts with you. By thinking about what you need now, you can make better choices later. What do you want? What can you arrange yourself? And what can we do together to make Oost Gelre a place where everyone can age comfortably?
That’s why, together with housing and care organisations, we are organising a series of meetings. Under the guidance of Frans Miggelbrink, we will discuss the future together. What can you do yourself? What is needed? You will also hear from residents’ experiences and receive tools to think about your future living situation. We will discuss:
- How you can continue living comfortably and safely;
- What care and support will look like in the future;
- How you can maintain control;
- What you can do now to be well prepared.
When and where?
The meetings will take place at the following times:
- Thursday 2 April, Hotel Restaurant De Koppelpaarden in Lichtenvoorde
- Wednesday 8 April, BMV in Mariënvelde
- Tuesday 14 April, Sociaal Cultureel Centrum De Mattelier in Groenlo
- Wednesday 15 April, Bernard Vos Clubhuus in Lievelde
Time: 19:30 – 22:00 (doors open at 19:15)
