Space for Autism during Autism Week in Roosendaal
Once again this year, the municipality of Roosendaal, in collaboration with various partners, is organising Autism Week. From March 28 to April 3, a range of activities will take place, and a documentary series will be available to watch via ZuidWestTV.
Space for Autism
In 2026, the theme of this week is ‘Space for Autism’. In the Netherlands, over 200,000 people live with autism. For them, it is not a given that society provides enough space to be themselves. The theme ‘Space for Autism’ highlights the importance of understanding, acceptance, and adjustments in areas such as education, work, and daily life. The municipality of Roosendaal supports this initiative and is actively committed to an inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to utilise their talents.
Invitation Monday, March 30
On Monday, March 30, at 12:45 PM, Alderwoman Evelien van der Star will open Autism Week at Shopping Centre De Roselaar and at the Autism Cube. Among others, the Autism Information Centre, MEE West-Brabant, and SDW will be present. They will hand out pastries, provide information, and interview visitors at the cube. Everyone is welcome.
Programme
In addition to this opening, there is much more on the programme that week. A low-stimulation film at C-Cinema, a Meet-Up for young people at the Cultural Centre, an open evening of the ABCafé at Black Horse, an autism information stand at the Jumbo on Streuvelslaan, a special lecture on autism and grief at funeral home De Vier Jaargetijden, and low-stimulation bowling at Playdôme. You can find the full programme, including information on any admission fees and registration options, at www.roosendaal.nl/autismeweek.
Short documentaries on television
From Saturday, March 28 to Saturday, April 4, Zuid-West TV, in co-production with the SDW media team and the Autism Information Centre Roosendaal, will broadcast short documentaries featuring a different person with autism from Roosendaal or the surrounding area each day. Broadcasts start around 10:00 AM and are repeated every hour.
The partners
This week is organised in collaboration with ABCafé, Autism Information Centre Roosendaal, MEE West-Brabant, Pauzepunt, SDW, and Visible-ID.
